Custody and Divorce Mediation and Mediators

Mediation is where the two parties in a divorce of child custody modification get together with a mediator. Some court trials can be avoided if both parties can come to an agreement. It is much easier to come to a mutual agreement in mediation rather than going through a long lengthy and very expensive court trial.

Cost of Mediation

The cost of mediation is determined by your income.

In Kansas City, MO you will be looking at at least $165.00 with some mediators. They have income brackets that they determine what your payment will be. Of course if you only make a few hundred dollars a month you will be looking at less than $50.

It doesn't always seem fair with the cost. Just expect that if you make a significant amount in your gross income you will be paying top dollar.

That $165.00 is also only for the first two (2) hours. After that it is still based off your income. If you had to pay $130 for the first two (2) hours you will be paying about $65.00 for each additional hour after.

These are just rough estimates and all mediators fees are different. This is just to help give you an idea of how much you are looking at before you go in.
