My First Rant...
I've heard you for 3 years and now I would like to tell you my side...
This is my first rant and rave I am posting to my blog. So here goes…… Having been a divorced dad and forced to bear the psychological scarlet letter of being cursed with the wrong sexual organ by the judicial system I have a new perspective to add to divorced life.
Just a little over three years ago I filed a motion to modify custody because it became grossly apparent that things with my children’s mother had reached critical mass. Their mother was on the outs with her 2nd marriage to the father of her 5th child and found herself in the arms of a child molesting pedophile. Now mind you that was not all of the reasons why but it became obvious to me that the “gender blind” courts system were inherently flawed in their reasoning and requirements for a need to remove children and place them with another parent. You see, even in light of the fact that mom was banging a child molester I still had to provide mountains of proof that she also was a bad parent because she allowed domestic violence and drug use in her life, as well as, moving more than the fabled Arabic nomads, ie; 7 moves in less than a year. Her only defense was that in the 8 years of paying child support I was in the arrears of about $3500 dollars. Some people may think that is a lot but when you look at the total picture it was at best 5 payments behind over the course of 8 years of payments. Subsequently, she lost her argument and the courts had a temporary moment of sanity only to turn around and resort back to the same time honored tradition of sticking it to the dad.
After winning custody the court found that the standard form 14 child support amount of some $400 was grossly unfair and reduced moms support obligation for three children to a measly $125 a month. Thats right folks. THREE…. You ask yourself why or how could this be???? I have just learned to say “it is what it is” and move on. But wait…. Wasn’t gas hovering around almost $4 dollars a gallon for a while? YUP You Bet Ya! And guess what, I still had to transport them to visit their mother. Let me just mention that she moved and now the drive is 80 miles one way, which equals 160 miles round trip. So after you factor in gas and mileage that would mean the support wouldn’t even cover the gas to do that. Did the court system care? NO.
So I digress…… Some of you may be saying well wait a minute you were a dead beat for missing 5 payments out of 96 and according to the court I guess I was because they didn’t forgive that amount. Rather I was forced to waive the amount from mom or face the archaic and broken system we call government and watch money fly out of my wallet each month only to merely find a fraction of it return and that is if she even sent them her obligated support back. So I miss 5 months of payments due to job loss and mom gets to turn around and kick back and relax for two years and one month. For those of you keeping score that would be 25 payments to equal my 5. Does that sound like a fair and just system?????
Well Last March mom of the year was to begin payment of her astronomical figure of $125 a month and I saw a whole $50. Ok So its not the whole amount but I thought well times may be tough but she will make good because she “loves her children” and would not want for them to do without. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!! OMFG!!!! That is the best joke I have heard this century! Turns out I wouldn’t see another cent until November. To date as of March 19, 2009 I have seen a whopping $152. Now being on the other side I know how rigorously our government fights to make sure parents receiving support doesn’t fall thru the cracks and how the mantra is beat into your head you pay your support before you can even buy groceries or pay the rent however this is not the case. This woman has proven to be slicker than Bill Clinton himself. And what’s even more appalling is the utter lack of support from the Child Support enforcement agency when I try to reach out for help or answers.
Now don’t get me wrong I’m not so hard up for money that $125 a month is going to make or break me but I like to believe it’s about the principle. This woman embarrassed me in front of my neighbors by shouting at the top of her lungs that I was a dead beat dad because I owed her money during the visitation exchanges. The state threatened to take my license away and throw me in jail if I didn’t pay when I was unemployed for 5 months however this human debris gets a free pass. I don’t want to sound bitter but I wholeheartedly believe it is because I lack a VAGINA!
I have heard hundreds of horror stories and have read on the net how women have been able to use the system to their advantage and I want to ask one question in this supposed mans world…… Isn’t it about time we act like men and demand the rights we deserve and not allow what the bad apples did take away our FAIR and EQUAL RIGHTS!!!!
